Q: What is the proper thing a person should do when praying at an Ashkanazi 'shul' when everyone stands for Kadish?

Rabbi Shlomo Z: The general rule is to follow the Sibur ‘congregation’ that you are a guest of; even if some of the minhagim are different.
Some differences of minhagim to note:
-Ashkenazim stand for Barechu and Kaddish, so we should stand as well, and not separate ourselves from them.
-Ashkenazim have a shorter Kadish, if you are saying kadish you should say it like they do.
