"Haji's Top Ten Ways you know your friend has been at the Ashkenazi Yeshiva for Too Long!"

10. When thinking of Hebrew words, he pronounces them in his head using Ashkenazi pronounciation… “I wonder where Faramarz is going to daven Shachris this Shabbos?”

9. He insists that the his mom’s Shabbat ‘Ash’ or ‘Khaleh Bibi’ is really actually ‘Cholent’

8. When arguing, he answers every question with another question and does the ‘thumb-dip’ for added flare.

7. For some odd reason he starts moving back and forth (like he's praying) in his college classes, or better yet he has the sudden urge to stand every time his professor walks into class.

6. Every other sound out of his mouth is either Brch'shm (Baruch HaShem) or shkoy'ach (Yasher Kochachah)

5. He feels that who ever finishes prayers the fastest is the most religious.

4. His entire wardrobe is either black or white, except for that funky Purim costume.

3. He wears his Black Hat to sleep

2. He actually likes Gefilte Fish and prefers it over Gondi for Shabbat

1.
He doesn't think that Haji Hayim from PersianRabbi.com could actually be a Jewish character because he is wearing a turban, and doesn’t look anything like his rabbi’s at the Yeshiva.

I don't have anything against any of my Jewish Brethren. All Im saying is that it would be really nice if we could all blend in regardless of the institution of learning we're in.

I think Rod has something against 'yeshivish' people. It is just a feeling I get from the way he speaks about them.

I think Sadaf makes a few very good points. I will admit that my response was too harsh, not fully understanding the nature of a 'Top 10'.

I would like to clarify something. I truly believe Persianrabbi is a G-d send. Meaning that what it does for the Jewish Iranian Community is really amazing. And yes, I know no one had cruel intentions here.

That said, I would like to re-state why this 'top 10' is inappropriate. Certain things in Judaism are not meant to be poked fun at. Our Holy Torah, and the people who dedicate their lives to it's study, are part of this category.

As far as love & Acceptance goes, you can be rest assured that anyone who attends any yeshiva has the utmost respect, acceptance and love for his/her fellow Jew.

Thank You for giving me this opportunity to clarify myself. I apologize for offending anyone's sensibilities.

I totally agree with Sadaf
I think our dear 'yeshivish' friends need to take it easy a little and try to laugh with the rest of us

This is not an article and it was not meant to be one. It's a top ten....and if you have any wherewithall to what that is..it's meant to be silly, funnny, and light-headed like that. This website and its staff members and contributors, have the highest degree of respect and love for all jews as a top priority. It is precisely with this outlook that the website was developed. Now, you may of not liked this top ten and you may of not thought it was so funny afterall.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with persianrabbi.com. I am sure they appreciate all input as to how they can improve the site and better cater to the needs, wants, and concerns of visiting members and the greater jewish community. But there are tons of jokes about tons of differnt kinds of jews and in all honesty you're making a mountain out of a molehill. This animosity and frustration should be turned toward our real enemies. Also, with all due respect, if you want to promote love and acceptance, then the first place to start is right at home.

I find this article to be totally inappropriate. It goes against the whole purpose of PersianRabbi.com, promoting Jewish Values. Is this a joke? Why isn't it in the Cherto'pert section? What are you trying to do dissuade people from going to yeshiva! I am a alumnus of the Yeshiva System (both Sephardic & Ashkenazic) and take major offense at this stereotypical, bigoted and racist article. BTW: Persian Yeshiva students maintain their customs 100% in Ashkenazi Yeshivot.

I have to agree with Mr. Avraham Panahi.
i wish i had the Zechoussss (merissss) to go to any yeshiva.
thank you,
Michael Sakhai

I think it is much better for a Jewish boy to be at an Ashkenazi Yeshiva then not to have a Zechout[Merit] to be in ANY Yeshiva.
Thanks, Avraham Panahi
