About us

Program dates: Sunday, June 24th through Monday, July 30th 2007

The aim of the program is to provide the tools for independent Jewish learning, by engaging Fellows in a stimulating introduction to the "Great Books of Judaism".

The Tools for a Lifetime of Learning
Belzberg Fellows will be introduced to Talmud, philosophy, history, Kabbalah and Hasidism, and to issues confronting Israel and contemporary Judaism. They will be challenged to understand the principles of Jewish learning, by studying with renowned rabbis, gifted teachers and intellectually curious peers.

An Open and Personal Approach
The Belzberg Fellowship is a unique opportunity to delve into Jewish thought in an intimate and intellectually stimulating environment. Belzberg Fellows will enjoy the same rigorous and open approach that characterizes all Mayanot programs. Courses will be conducted by Mayanot full-time staff and rabbis, who have years of experience teaching beginners the fundamentals of Jewish learning.

Six Weeks in the Heart of Jerusalem
Set in the heart of Jerusalem, the Mayanot campus is a few minutes' walk from the Western Wall. There is no better place to experience Jewish life in the 21st century, and to explore one's own sense of Judaism.

Textual studies will be complemented by weekly excursions, each one reflecting a different aspect of Jewish history and Israel. In addition to jeep tours, hikes and other active day-trips, there is an exciting and spiritual program for each Shabbat.

Fellows will reside in the student residence and have open access to Mayanot facilities, including an extensive library, study areas, gardens and social areas.

Thanks to the generosity of Marc and Chantal Belzberg, the Fellowship covers all expenses in Israel, including tuition and room and board. There is a small number of grants for round-trip airfare to Israel available, for students that don't have the means. The Belzberg Fellowship is open to young men aged 20-29. Apply
