In 2006 PersianRabbi.com was born and quickly became a favorite website of Persian Jews in Los Angeles, New York and other cities around the world. Being a volunteer based outlet allowed PersianRabbi.com to be an independent voice in our community, allowing it to express its feelings and ideas without any other organization’s control. With its mix of humor (remember the Dancing Haji?), and informative articles about Jewish life, the sites viewership continually grew to hundreds of daily visitors from across the globe.

Q: Simple question...Is Pot Kosher for Passover?
Rabbi Yonah: The issue of whether pot is kosher for Passover or not allows me an opening. Pot – aside from the debate on its status of Passover of a kitniyot or not — would be prohibited on Passover a rabbinic level, and not biblically. This is very significant. That means that if you use or eat pot for medical reasons YOU CAN USE IT ON PASSOVER. Eating chometz (leavened items) on Passover incurs the penalty of spiritual exile from God and the Jewish people. Being cut off spiritually really sucks. The Rabbinic injunctions regarding kitniyot for Ashkenazim carry weight, but not being cut-off or anything remotely close.
